Kota Nakatsubo (中坪宏太) is an ukiyo-e artist from Japan. Ukiyo-e is an art genre from the 17th through 19th century of Japan, which frequently included woodblock prints and paintings of historical scenes among others.
While ukiyo-e has very traditional roots and is typically created with brushes, inks, and woodblocks, Nakatsubo has recently begun creating digital ukiyo-e style art.
Ever since Nakatsubo was young, he liked drawing the bugs he caught in the yard such as grasshoppers and praying mantises. Now, Nakatsubo takes his inspiration from dragons and Japanese tattoos which are heavily reflected in his art and also inspired him on his path to becoming an artist. 遊び惚けろ, translated as Fall in love with the game, is a piece inspired by a battle between a dragon and tiger as leaders surrounded by their followers.
